For Grocery & Retail Chains

Expired Inventory Shouldn't End Up in a Landfill.

Every pallet of expired, damaged, or unsellable food still contains the nutrients it took to grow it. WINR Centers recover those nutrients and return them to local farms, giving you documented landfill diversion and a circular economy story your customers can actually see.

Unsellable Product Is a Daily Reality and a Reporting Problem

Expired product never stops

Sell-by dates don't negotiate. Every week produces another round of product that has to go somewhere.

Damaged inventory piles up

Dented, crushed, broken in transit: it can't go on the shelf, and right now it's heading to a landfill on your dime.

Diversion goals with no local outlet

Corporate set a landfill diversion target. Finding a reliable outlet near your distribution centers is the hard part.

Sustainability claims need receipts

ESG reports, investor questions, customer scrutiny: vague commitments don't hold up. Documented diversion does.

Brand reputation rides on it

Food retailers sending truckloads of food to landfills is exactly the story nobody wants written about them.

None of this is your fault. Until now, there hasn’t been a better system. We built one.

The WINR Difference

Documented Diversion. Local Impact. A Story Worth Telling.

Some Midwest retailers haul food waste out of state just to keep it from a landfill. WINR keeps it local and turns it into something farmers want.

Landfill diversion, documented

Every load tracked and recorded. Tons diverted and destruction verified: paperwork your reporting team will actually thank you for.

ESG metrics with substance

Diversion rates, nutrients recovered, methane avoided. Real numbers for sustainability reports, not estimates.

Lower disposal costs

Competitive with landfill hauling, with predictable pricing, and without the long-haul transport some chains pay today.

A genuine circular story

Food from Iowa farms, sold in your stores, returned to Iowa farms as natural fertilizer. The loop closes 30 minutes from your DC, not three states away.

Reliable destruction & diversion

Unsellable branded product is destroyed, documented, and diverted, protecting your brand and your diversion numbers at the same time.

The Process

From Your Dock to a Farmer’s Field

01

We Assess Your Stream

Volume, composition, frequency, current disposal costs. No two waste streams are identical, so we design around yours.

02

We Handle Logistics

Pickup on a schedule that fits your operation. Transported to the nearest WINR Center. Documented end to end.

03

We Recover the Nutrients

Aerated Static Pile composting: controlled oxygen, temperature, and moisture. Consistent, high-quality output with lower emissions than traditional methods.

04

Farmers Put It to Work

Finished natural fertilizer goes to farms in our network. The nutrient cycle completes. Your waste built someone’s soil, and we can document it.

Who’s Behind This

“A waste stream is just a nutrient out of place. Mother Nature made all of it. We just need to put it back where it belongs.”

Abe Sandquist, Founder, Natural Fertilizer Services

This isn’t an experiment.

Abe Sandquist spent 20 years turning livestock manure from a liability nobody wanted into one of the most sought-after biological fertilizers in the Midwest. WINR Centers apply that same proven playbook to your waste stream, backed by a USDA Fighting for Producers and Entrepreneurs (FPEP) grant, two facilities underway in Western Iowa, and a third site already purchased.

Questions We Hear

Do you handle packaged food waste?
Talk to us about your stream. Depackaging and contamination tolerance depend on the material. We'll assess what you generate and give you a straight answer on what we can accept and how.
Can you provide destruction documentation for branded product?
Yes. Every load is tracked end to end, and we provide documentation of destruction and diversion, so unsellable branded product never resurfaces and your reporting has a paper trail.
What does it cost?
Depends on your stream: volume, composition, frequency, distance. In many cases WINR is cost-competitive with landfill hauling, and your costs become predictable. We'll give you a straight answer on a call.
Where are you located?
First two facilities in Western Iowa, serving generators within roughly 250 miles. Outside that radius? Reach out anyway. The model is built to replicate, and we're seeking partners in other regions.
How is this different from landfill disposal?
Landfills are a dead end: nutrients lost, methane generated. WINR Centers recover nutrients aerobically and return them to farmland. Your waste builds soil instead of filling a hole, and you get the documentation to prove it.
